The Compass program resumes with the participation of another 40 young people

The Word of God, sharing and a useful kit for everyday living.

There are forty or so young people, 25 years of age on average, who have started taking part in the “compass” programme this year. The programme, initiated in 2012 in Milan by the Jesuits of Villapizzone, offers eight monthly meetings, between October and May. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Some of the young people who join are those who take part in the summer activities offered in Selva di Val Gardena, but for the most part they get to know by word of mouth from friends, parents, and relatives,” Fr. Beppe Lavelli, contact person of the program explains.

The main elements of this program are prayer and profound meditation on a biblical passage in the morning, with a time for sharing. Then after lunch, time is allotted for different experiences: from the method of prayer to the rules of discernment, from examination of conscience to testimonies”. Two testimonies are presented, one on consecrated life, the other on married life.”

It is a journey for young people aged 19 to 35,” Margaret, who took part in this experience two years ago says. “A stage of life when young people are faced with their first big choices: whether or not to opt for college, get married, enter some order. Participation in the compass program gives you the opportunity to receive a toolbox to deal with these choices and to help you throughout life. In addition to the rules of discernment, points for reflection and meditation on the Word are offered to review one’s life and to share with a group of friends formed along the way.”
