Young people visit the Jesuits' social media profiles

This is a shared journey, on social media, for the many young people who participate in the works of the Society but also open to those who are still unaware of these initiatives in this field. A short meditation to raise the eyes of young people every Monday morning, a weekly column to help them read current events, a presentation of the various offerings from the Jesuits in presence or online, a brief introduction to the Ignatian realities for young people present in the EUM.

The necessity and opportunity were realized in particular during the lockdown, a time of excessive exposure to social media for many young people, since they had to limit their relationships in person.
An online meeting which took place this summer between some Jesuits involved in youth organizations and the EUM communications office was an opportunity for sharing and reflecting on the profound questions, needs and desires of young people today. These Jesuits were Fr. Beppe Lavelli, responsible for the initiatives offered in Villapizzone and Selva di Val Gardena, Fr. Andrea Picciau, national director   of MEG and coordinator of the Jesuits and Young People website and Fr. Marco Piaia, involved in youth ministry and very much active on social media.
Through this sharing the core of a first editorial plan was initiated: a short meditation every Monday morning to help young people raise their minds to prayer. This is “The Good Morning of Fr. Beppe “, a voice well known to thousands of young people who meet him during the summer and winter initiatives of Selva. It also includes a weekly column ” we care ” which consists of News, information about the various Jesuit initiatives offered face to face or online, and a brief introduction to Ignatian experiences that are being carried out in the EUM for young people.
These are the first steps which are currently being sustained through the collaboration of a graphic designer and an editor. There are many other ideas in the pipeline ranging from giving a voice to young people so that they can recount their journey and what they discover to their peers, during the Ignatian year dedicated to them.
This is a shared journey, leading from listening to experiencing a taste of life, open them to hope, make them responsible and able to face difficulties, even through the web.
