New website for Jesuit Social Network

A book presentation at the Jesuit Community in Villapizzone, Milan

Under the protection of St. Joseph, who is the patron entrusted with the care of humanity, the new website of the Jesuit Social Network (JSN), a network of social activities promoted by the Euro-Mediterranean Province of the Society of Jesus, which includes the territories of Albania, Italy, Malta and Romania, has been launched online on 19 March.

The new portal, with new graphics and an enhanced content, represents a meeting place, a space for sharing experiences and for collaboration, an instrument for plans and actions, for member organizations and for all those interested in learning more about social activities.

Imparting solidarity and online service is the core around which the JSN’s activity develops, which, through its federal organisations, offers itself as a “community of solidarity”. This means being in constant discernment, that is, in an attitude of listening to experiences of encounter with rejected and excluded people, defending the dignity of the person, open to all those contributions, coming from various parts, which will enable to inspire and activate new channels of reception and promotion of the most disadvantaged people.

The homepage and the menu of the new portal present an overview of the identity and operations of the Jesuit Social Network, highlighting the areas of intervention and the areas in which the related entities are present. There are 40 entities operating in 8 different areas: international collaboration, culture and formation, detention, social hardship, family, immigration, minors, urban poverty.

The section dedicated to News finalises the site. The News relate to the activities or events promoted by the JSN or by a particular entity, leading those visiting the site to articles, insights, and opportunities for reflection and formation.

“We hope – Paola Piazzi, President of the Jesuit Social Network highlights – that the site can represent a point of reference not only to the entities that belong to the network but also to those who desire to approach the world of social solidarity, to live a reconciled life in a world more just, supportive and united”.
