La Civiltà Cattolica in udienza da papa Leone

“To perceive Christ’s gaze upon the world, to nurture it, to share it, to bear witness to it”: this is the mission of La Civiltà Cattolica, the prestigious journal of the Society of Jesus, which, on the occasion of its 175th anniversary, was received in audience by Pope Leo on September 25.
“Someone,” Pope Leo said, “has described your magazine as “a window on the world”, praising its openness — and indeed one of its defining qualities is its ability to engage with contemporary issues without fear of confronting their challenges and opposition.”
“Educating people to an intelligent and active commitment in the world, giving a voice to the least, and being messengers of hope” are the three areas of work for the magazine. Therefore, adopting the words of Pope Francis, the Pope concluded: “I encourage you to continue your work with joy, through good journalism that aligns itself with no cause other than the Gospel, listening to all voices and embodying that gentle meekness which does good to the heart.”
