Fr Camillo Ripamonti elected as Procurator

The Second Provincial Congregation of the EUM Province has elected Fr Camillo Ripamonti as Procurator. The Congregation has been meeting in Sassone since 1 September and has brought together around 50 Jesuits.

Camillo Ripamonti was born in Vimercate on 28 May 1970 and entered the Society of Jesus in Genoa on 20 October 1997. He pronounced his Final Vows in Rome on 5 May 2018.

Fr Camillo has been Director of JRS Italy and President of the Centro Astalli Association since 2014.

After obtaining a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology, he has held different positions. He formed part of the editorial team of Aggiornamenti Sociali, for which he still writes, he has worked with the San Fedele Youth Centre for Couples, and has collaborated with the San Fedele Health Assistance Centre. He was also appointed Delegate for San Fedele Justice and Society and Consultor to the San Fedele Cultural Foundation.

Fr Camillo will take part in the Congregation of Procurators, convened by the Father General for October 2027 in Indonesia. Following a period of Spiritual Exercises, the Congregation will reflect on the state of the Universal Society of Jesus and consider whether to convoke a General Congregation.

The Provincial Congregation also elected Fr Gaetano Piccolo as Substitute of the Procurator and today voted Cogenda, expressing its support for the convocation of a General Congregation.
