What to do

Knock and meet

If you’re considering the possibility of becoming a Jesuit, the first step is to reach out to one of the Jesuits you know. Perhaps he is already your spiritual guide, or simply someone you’ve encountered before. If you don’t know a Jesuit, you can contact the vocational promoter in your area via email.

If you have come to know the Society of Jesus because someone spoke to you about it, through readings or some other way, but have never had the chance to meet a Jesuit, you can get in touch with us by writing an email to the Vocational Promoter in your area.

Discern

The second step is to be accompanied on your journey. Discerning one’s vocation requires reflection and guidance.

A Jesuit spiritual companion will help you name your feelings and, with care and freedom, guide you as you explore your questions.

The Spiritual Exercises remain for us the most profound way to meet the Lord intimately and form your life in union with Him.

Decide

With the support of your guide, you’ll reflect on whether your desire to follow the Lord aligns with the Jesuit way of life. This dialogue may last up to a year, helping you to see if joining the Society is the right decision for you.

As we accompany you, you will learn more about our style, which does not direct or impose, but respects each person’s freedom and looks for what is best for you.

During this time, we may offer you specific experiences to better understand the Jesuit life, our community, and our apostolic work, so you can make an informed decision.
